Iron & Wine - Resurrection Fern
The video is bouncy, but I hope the music does the song some justice. It is amazing on the album and the only song I have listened to all day.

Bitter much?
Why, yes. Don't mind if I do.
Dear Radiohead,
Get on with it already. Finish your last 4 days of West Coast shows and quit torturing an already tortured soul.
Your devoted fan,

*very long, very bitter, very ridiculous rant written beforehand and then edited to be finalized as the above. Don't judge me.*

I will be scolded when I get home.
7:35 am I pull up to the neighborhood 7-11. I am cranky, tired, disheveled and none too happy to be heading to work (aka HELL) while my dude is at home in bed, curled up with the cats enjoying his well deserved day off.
There is a truck parked next to me packed full of laborers. I get out of the car and head toward the door, instinctively knowing what was going to happen next.
From the truck comes a cat call and a whistle.
I am not entertained. Not in the slightest.
Normally I will ignore such things, or at least I try to....but this morning, I was not the one.
I stood in the doorway at 7-11, turned myself around so that I was facing the clowns, lowered my sunglasses, scowled and showed them my middle finger.
(yes honey, I know this was not the right thing to do)
Time stood still for a moment as their jaws went slack and they looked back and forth at each other in confusion...as to say, "What did we do??" I went into the store, and they pulled out very slowly. Very Slowly.
It was then that I had the "Oh shit!" moment and the voices of my mother and my dude were in my head saying "You can't do that, you're going to get yourself killed".
So, I didn't get killed this time, but I did get a little scared. And the moral of the story is:
Even if I feel like I am being disrespected in situations like that, I will ignore rather than retaliate......no matter how unnatural that may feel. People are crazy and you never know what they are capable of. Flipping someone off who thinks that cat calling is the highest compliment you can give a woman, could have a negative outcome. Got it.
The end.

Where my knittas at?

I think this is the perfect way to jump start my knitting this fall!
HAT ATTACK!!: The Death Hat Always Knocks Twice
HAT ATTACK! is a friendly kill or be killed competition where the weapon of choice is a hat. You will receive a target and original weapon pattern. Your goal is to knit and mail a hat to your target before you are killed before receiving one yourself!
Southwest Trading Company - producers of all-natural, “unexpected” yarns - will sponsor the competition with the launch of their new yarn, Therapi. The last assassin standing will be awarded US$500 worth of SWTC yarn!
Enlistment is now open. Click Enlistment - Part 1 to begin. Battle commences on September 16, 2008.
For the best HAT ATTACK! experience, join Ravelry, a free knitting and crocheting community, and add yourself to the HAT ATTACK! group.
Welcome to the battle, warriors.

Waking Gently
Get a cup of coffee, hit shuffle all on the Zune and this is the first song that comes up.
I love Andrew Bird. His lyrics are cute and clever, but are meant to kick you in the teeth and get you thinking. Add that to his multilayer instrumentation and be blown away.
*Warning* Andrew Bird is music for people who like to think, like to watch or listen to a musical process, and don't get irritated by some whistling.....
Here are couple more of Mr. Bird performing with Martin Dosh. Petty cool.
Something apropos, I don't know..

Time not wasted
There is a website called "Sketchswap" that has been keeping me entertained for the better part of the afternoon. You draw something, submit it and then get to watch the process, start to finish, of another person's drawing. At first I was a little intimidated, but some of these others suck as much as mine....so I felt a lot better.
Here is one that I submitted and the one that I got back:

It started out as one thing then turned into a man in his underwear holding a marshmallow being chased by a crazed bear in the forest......don't ask.

Give it a try!
