Baptism for the Dead.

While driving home from soccer yesterday evening, a report came on NPR saying that the LDS Church had done a proxy baptism for President Obama's deceased mother. The following conversation is what followed:

Mom,what is baptism for the dead?

It is when someone stands in for someone who has died, but wasn't baptized in a religion. Mormons do this to baptize people that hadn't been baptized as Mormons.

So they dig up peoples bones and sprinkle water on them? Did they do this to Obama's mom? Did she want this done?

No, they don't dig up bones. They have a person who is alive stand in for the person who is dead, and they are baptized for them.

Whaaaaaaaaa???!!! What if they don't want to be baptized??! What if they wanted to be their own religion, or no religion??!!! THIS MAKES ME SOOOO MAD.

If you have more questions, you should talk to D about it. He knows much more than I do. I think that the Mormons are just doing what they think is right. And if we don't believe the same thing that they believe, then how are they harming us by saying our name and taking a bath?

I don't think I want to talk about it. I am too mad.

It is a strange thing to do. Better not tell him about the holocaust victims they baptized.

He was pissed enough about George Washington's unwilling baptism.
